Newcastle target Gomis to resurrect Lyon career

Newcastle target Gomis to resurrect Lyon career

13 August 2013 - 19:17

Former Newcastle United target Bafetimbi Gomis will be given the chance to resurrect his Lyon career after president Jean-Michel Aulas confirmed that his aborted transfer to the Toon Army has completely fallen through.

 • Chelsea star to miss FA Cup final with hamstring injury
 • Chelsea to move for Bendegúz Kovács?
 • "The circumstances have changed. Newcastle broke off negotiations, and we haven't had other offers. The most logical solution would be for everyone to show a little humility, myself in particular, so that he extends his contract by a year. But there are conditions, notably with regard to what [coach] Remi [Garde] wants to do," said Aulas.
Gomis had been in talks with Newcastle over a potential 10 million Euro transfer to England, but the forward has since missed out on a move and the Toon Army signed Loic Remy on loan instead.
After a spell training with Lyon's reserves, the player will now be brought back into the first team fold.
