Swansea chairman reveals no Arsenal offer for Williams

14 August 2013 - 17:49

Swansea City chairman Huw Jenkins has revealed that there has been no contact made by Arsenal over a possible transfer of Ashley Williams this summer.

  • Omari Hutchinson wants to continue at Ipswich Town

  • There has been continued speculation over Williams' future this summer after Arsene Wenger identified him as one of his primary targets ahead of the new season.

However, contrary to media reports Jenkins admitted that no offer has been tabled for the newly appointed captain as of yet.

"Ash has grown with us. His performances and personality have grown with the club and he is a vital part of our team," Jenkins declared.

"He is a big part of our defence and now he is captain as well. He is a good leader to have at the club.

"As always, we want to keep those players and we hope he is with us for many years to come."

The Swans have put a hefty price tag on the defender so as to put off any interest Arsenal might have in the 28 year old.
