Moyes: Rooney not for sale

15 August 2013 - 13:40

Manchester United boss David Moyes once again reiterated the club's stance over wantaway striker Wayne Rooney's future saying he is not for sale.

  • Chelsea join Liverpool & Man Utd in race to sign 26yo
  • Martin Keown praises complete Arsenal star after Bournemouth win

  • There has been continued speculation about the player's future after a rumored fall out between the striker and the manager. However, the Scot denies all such reports and is looking forward to assess the England international's fitness ahead of the season opener.

Moyes told Sky Sports News: "There have been no more developments and we don't want any more developments because we have told everybody - which I have said before - he is not for sale."

The striker is yet to make any comments as to whether he desires to leave the club but the club's stance will certainly deal a blow to Chelsea's hopes of signing him this summer.

"I watched the game last night and I thought for the 65 minutes or so that he played, I thought he did well," Moyes added.

"He ran around, he got himself some fitness, but it certainly was his first outing in any real competitive game."
