Chelsea overpower brave Aston Villa

21 August 2013 - 22:23

Chelsea beat Aston Villa in their second game of the season, in what was a joyous encounter full of chances between both clubs. Alberto Luna (og) and Branislav Ivanovic scored Chelsea's goals while young striker Christian Benteke scored Villa's consolation.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • Seven minutes into the match, Eden Hazard's shot took a deflection off Luna and made it 1-0 to the home side, before Benteke's goal came from a pass by the brilliant Gabriel Agbonlahor. Ivanovic scored the winner after converting a Frank Lampard freekick.

Branislav Ivanovic was the center of attention moments before scoring his goal, after elbowing Benteke and only receiving a yellow card. The opponents argued he should have been sent off.

The visitors had a penalty shout turned out after John Terry appeared to handle a header by Agbonlahor.
