22 August 2013 - 22:59

Swansea city thrashed Romanian side Petrolul Ploiesti 5-1 in the Europa League playoff tie at the Liberty Stadium. A brace from the rejuvinated Wayne Routledge and Spaniard Michu in the first half ensured a 3-0 margin before the first whistle.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • Petrolul goalkeeper put the ball in his own net after a Wilfried Bony shot took a deflection off him, and summer signing Pozuelo continued the rout for Michael Laudrup's side, before Grozav scored a late consolation for the visitors.

Elsewhere, there were wins for Dynamo Kiev, Real Betis, Genk, Braga, and Trabzonspor while VFB Stuttgart were on the end of defeat by Rijeka, as were Italian side Udinese by Liberec.
