Jol hits back at Pardew for comments on Darren Bent

Jol hits back at Pardew for comments on Darren Bent

30 August 2013 - 14:36

Fulham boss Martin Jol has responded to Alan Pardew's claim that Aston Villa striker Darren Bent opted for Craven Cottage as it was a 'safer option'.

  • Chelsea expected to sell striker after loan deal
  • Arsenal defender misses training ahead of Man Utd game

  • The Newcastle United manager took a swipe at the England international by claiming the striker was not prepared to face the pressure at St. James' Park and hence chose to join Fulham.

Jol was quick to respond to the claims and dismissed Pardew's suggestions completely.

According to the London Evening Standard, Fulham manager Jol said: "I really do not know what he [Alan Pardew] means.

"I feel he probably made the right decision because he knows that he is in our plans and that means he will play a lot of games.

"He knows he is an important part of my squad - otherwise I think he would have gone to Newcastle.

He added: "He was eager to play and eager to start [last weekend]. He joined us late but his fitness looks good and he is ready to start."
