Liverpool in talks for Ilori and Sakho

Liverpool in talks for Ilori and Sakho

30 August 2013 - 19:15

Premier League side Liverpool have confirmed they're in talks to sign center back Mamadou Sakho from Paris St Germaine, and Tiago Ilori from Sporting Lisbon.

  • Arsenal to swap Gabriel Jesus for Inter Milan star?
  • Arsenal leading race to sign Belgian midfielder

  • Their moves to sign to two central defenders come as Sebastian Coates looks likely to miss the rest of the season through injury, and Kolo Toure being out for at least two weeks with an injury sustained last week in the Capital One cup against Notts County.

Frenchman Sakho has played 151 league games for his club PSG, scoring 7 goals in the process. He hasn't featured for them this season at all, while Tiago Ilori played a total of 12 league games for Sporting Lisbon, scoring 1 goal. He was on loan at Estoril in the 2007/2008 season and made 20 appearances. He has also represented Portugal on all youth levels.

Sakho is likely to cost the reds £13m, while Ilori's price has been predicted to be £8m. They would be the Reds' 6th and 7th summer signings after Luis Alberto, Iago Aspas, Kolo Toure, Simon Mignolet and Aly Cissokho.
