Jose Mourinho reveals Rooney chase is over

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has revealed that the Blues are done with their spending this summer and won't make another offer for Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney.

  • The Blues' longstanding interest in the United striker has seen them table two bids but both of them were turned down by the reigning champions of England. Despite rumors suggesting that the England international has been keen on a move away from Old Trafford, the red devils have been able to keep hold of the 27 year old.



    However, following Chelsea's acquisition of Anzhi striker Samuel Eto'o, Mourinho has revealed that they have dropped their interestb in the United forward.



    He told Sky Sports: "It's the end. We have a good group.



    "Samuel will give us other kind of qualities in attack. He is an experienced player in a team that needs some experienced players."



    On being prodded about Rooney, Mourinho added: "For all parties, it's finished. One thing is to tell you through other people that you want, you want, you want very much, but at the end of the day...



    "I feel everyone has the right to show his life, his future and I respect that."
