Cardiff manager Malky Mackay has confirmed the capture of Kevin Theopile-Catherine from Ligue 1 outfit Rennes for a reported fee of £2million, as per talkSPORT.
The 23-year-old was present at Saturday's 0-0 draw with Everton, as he signed a four year deal with the Bluebirds.
Malky Mackay told reporters: "We have signed Kevin Theophile-Catherine from Rennes today.
"He is a good defender, he is someone we have tracked over the last year in France.
“He is someone who has pace, is aggressive and has good experience in the French top division, so he is someone we feel will be a good addition to our squad.
The signing of the talented defender took the Welsh club's summer spending spree past £30m having already signed the likes of Gary Medel, Steven Caulker, Andreas Cornelius, John Brayford, Simon Moore and Maximiliano Amondarain.
The Bluebirds manager had also admitted of his willingness to bring few more players to Cardiff before the conclusion of the transfer window on the 2nd of September.
Mackay added saying: "We're still trying. If there's something else that comes up over the next couple of days we'll work hard to try and do something.
"But like anything there's competition and the people we bring in have got to add [quality] to the squad."
