Juan Mata will need to request transfer to seal switch to Arsenal

Chelsea midfielder Juan Mata has been told he must hand in an official transfer request if he wants to push through a transfer to Arsenal. The Spaniard has been linked with a transfer to the Gunners, who are desperate to land a new attacking midfielder before the transfer window closes on Monday.

The 25-year-old midfielder has fallen down the pecking order at the Bridge, with the new arrivals Willian and Andre Schurrle seemingly preferred ahead of the young Spaniard.&nbsp;<br />

This week Mata had been left on the bench for Spain's last international game and is desperate to secure more regular first team football to ensure a guaranteed place for the World Cup next summer in Brazil.
