Newcastle want Arshavin

09 November 2007 - 00:26

Newcastle United are considering making a move for Russian playmaker Andrei Arshavin. The Zenit St. Petersburg midfielder is one of the most highly rated players in his country, and a bid of around £8m could tempt the Russian side into selling the young midfielder.

  • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
  • Arsenal suffer big injury blow ahead of Fulham game
  • The Mirror says Arshavin has indicated he could be interested in a new challenge if Zenith win the title this season.

Arshavin has skippered Russia to the brink of Euro 2008 qualification and Sam Allardyce is a big fan of the 26-year-old.

Arshavin was a key member of Russia's Euro 2008 Qualification squad.
