West Ham United are reportedly considering the signing of Romanian International Ciprian Marica on a free transfer as their search for a new striker continues. <br /><br />The former Schalke 04 striker was released from the Bundesliga outfit last season and was reportedly linked with a move to Arsenal earlier this summer.
The 27-year-old was monitored by West Ham scouts as he started the scoring in Romania's 3-0 win over Hungary last night and is considered the perfect player to provide back-up to the London side, according to The Express.<br /><br />West Ham manager Sam Allardyce is eager to add a few players to his attack front as Andy Caroll is still sidelined through injury.<br /><br />An offer was made for former striker Carlton Cole to join the Hammers, but the forward has been asked to prove his fitness before considering a full-time contract.
