Laurent Blanc: 'PSG held talks with Mesut Ozil'

Paris Saint-Germain manager Laurent Blanc has admitted that the club were close to signing German midfielder Mesut Ozil, before he opted for a switch to Arsenal.

  • Mesut Ozil became Arsenal's club record signing on transfer deadline day, following his switch from La Liga giants Real Madrid for a reported fee of £42.5m .



    However, Blanc revealed that the 24-year-old had held talks with the French Ligue 1 champions about a possible move from the Bernabeu, after which Ozil chose to sign for the North London outfit following his telephone conversation with the Gunners boss Arsene Wenger.



    Blanc told The Express: "To my knowledge, the only negotiations there have been were those for Ozil.
