Jens Lehmann: ' The Gunners paid too much for Ozil'

24 September 2013 - 13:22

Former Arsenal goalkeeper Jens Lehmann has insisted that the Gunners had paid too much to sign Mesut Ozil from Real Madrid.

  • Mikel Arteta insists 27yo star won't be leaving Arsenal
  • Omari Hutchinson wants to continue at Ipswich Town

  • German International Mesut Ozil signed for the North London outfit on transfer deadline day for a club record fee of £42.5m

Lehmann told The Express: "In all honesty, Arsenal paid too much for Mesut Ozil, but that's because Gareth Bale went to Real Madrid for so much more money.

    "Nobody is worth that much."

Ozil's departure from the Bernabeu came as a shock to many of his former team-mates at Los Blancos, which included the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Sergio Ramos.
