Arsene Wenger slams Arsenal star Jack Wilshere for smoking

04 October 2013 - 13:39

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has publicly cautioned Jack Wilshere after the England international midfielder was photographed smoking outside of a London nightclub.

  • Chelsea winger suffers head injury vs Nottingham Forest
  • Man Utd star preparing farewell video ahead of transfer
  • The midfielder has been no stranger to controversy in the past and this time his manager has decided to caution the youngster.
“I disagree completely with that behaviour,” Wenger said, according to a report in the Daily Mail. “I don’t know what has happened and I will have to have a chat with him about that. When you are a footballer you are an example and also don’t do what damages your health.
“You can smoke at home and drink at home and nobody sees it, but when you go out socially, you damage your reputation as well. I have not spoken to him yet and what I say will be between him and me.”

Interestingly, Jack Wilshere took to Twitter this afternoon and posted: "For the record....I don't smoke!"
