Ashley Cole will not take part in England's crucial World Cup qualifier with Montenegro at Wembley on Friday. The FA has confirmed that Kieran Gibbs has been called up as a replacement and that Baines is likely to start as left back.
The Chelsea defender was brought off during the Blues' 3-1 victory over Norwich last weekend and will now be missing from action for international duty for the qualifier.
It is also expected that Cole will play no part in next Tuesday's game versus Poland for World Cup qualification.
