Chelsea planning transfer bid for Wesley Sneijder

19 October 2013 - 05:49

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is considering a move for Galatasaray midfielder Wesley Sneijder in the January transfer window, according to Dutch coach Louis Van Gaal.

  • Chelsea set to sign Crystal Palace star for £47m
  • Man Utd aiming to beat Liverpool to 25yo midfielder
  • Sneijder made a move from Inter Milan to Galatasaray over a year ago and has impressed there, but the 29-year-old is now seemingly desperate to transfer to England to prove his worth in the Premier League.

Before joining Turkish side Galatasaray, Manchester United were amongst the teams all hopeful that a deal could be agreed to wrap up a transfer for Sneijder. However, Sir Alex Ferguson then decided to pull out of a deal.

Despite that, the Netherlands' coach Louis Van Gaal has told reporters he expects Chelsea to be in the race for Sneijder's signature: "I know Chelsea and Jose Mourinho want Sneijder in the winter market."
