Tottenham manager denies Defoe exit

Tottenham manager denies Defoe exit

02 November 2013 - 04:39

Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas has dismissed speculation suggesting that Jermain Defoe will move to Toronto FC during the winter transfer window.

  • Chelsea ready to sell four home-grown players
  • Predicted Chelsea line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Aston Villa, Palmer starts

  • The MLS outfit who are managed by Defoe's former teammate Ryan Nelsen, have recently declared interest in signing the player, but Spurs boss has denied the claims insisting that the talented English forward is still in his plans in spite of prefering summer signing Roberto Soldado over him for the early stages of the Premier League campaign.

"I have seen in the press that there is reported interest [from Toronto], but we want the player to stay on and hold on to those last years of his contract," Villas-Boas said.

"In the end the player is committed to the club and the club is committed to the player.

"The player at the moment is our top goal scorer and he is chasing the European record for the club as well which is important for his individual motivation"
