Wayne Rooney ready to sign new Man Utd deal

17 November 2013 - 05:50

Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney will sign a new contract at Old Trafford next month, worth a reported £250,000 per week. The England international had been linked with a departure last summer but has rebuilt bridges with management at the club and is hopeful of a long term stay with the Premier League champions.

 • Chelsea suffer big injury blow ahead of Everton game
 • Enzo Fernandez refuses to rule out Chelsea exit
 • Manager David Moyes has always remained hopeful that he could persuade Rooney to stay at the club beyond the remaining 18 months left on his current contract and it appears some headway has been made in negotiations this week. Rooney had been concerned that former manager Sir Alex Ferguson still maintains an influence in club activities behind the scenes, but is apparently persuaded that his former manager is not involved with first team affairs.
Rooney will sign a deal for four years worth approximately £250,000, making him one of the world's best paid players and the Premier League's highest earner.
Chelsea had been hopeful that a deal could be agreed with United for Rooney's signature last summer, but the club have always insisted that Rooney would not be allowed to leave Old Trafford.
