Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew is reportedly considering a bid for Reading goalkeeper Alex McCarthy, as the club are in the search for a perfect replacement for the club's number one shot-stopper Tim Krul, should the Dutchman leave the Tyneside outfit in the near future.
Serie A giants Juventus are believed to be keen in acquiring the services of the 25-year-old, having sent scouts to watch the player in action in recent weeks, and the Daily Star reports that the Magpies are monitoring the progress of the Royals goalkeeper, with a view to launching a transfer bid, should the Biaconeri meet the club's £20m valuation for Krul.
Alex McCarthy has established himself as the number one for the Royals under manager Nigel Adkins this season.
