High flying Premier League side Arsenal have apparently made a £6.5m offer for Brazilian forward Alexandre Pato, which has been swiftly rejected by Corinthians as the club are holding out for a transfer fee of at least £10m.
The Gunners manager Arsene Wenger is keen on signing a top-class forward to provide competition to Olivier Giroud, with reports suggesting that the club are expected to finally offload Danish striker Nicklas Bendtner in January.
Pato, who has notched up just 10 goals since his move from Italian giants AC Milan for £12m last winter, is thought to be set for an exit from the club having only started three times in the last 11 games for the Brazilian outfit.
North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur have also been linked with a bid for the 24-year-old, but reports in Brazil claim that Arsenal have started the bidding war by making the initial transfer offer for the player.
