Arsenal are reportedly considered favourites to land the signature of Schalke playmaker Julian Draxler, as per the Daily Express.
The 20 year old German International, who is considered as one of the brightest talents in European football, has been linked with a switch to the North London outfit since the summer.
Draxler has a £38m release clause in his current contract and the Daily Express claims that the Gunners manager Arsene Wenger may go for broke and triggers the player's clause during the January transfer window in an attempt to end the club's 8 year wait for a silverware.
When asked by the media about a possible transfer to Arsenal, the talented German youngster has earlier said : “I’ve always said English teams are very big clubs and Arsenal are one of them. I sometimes speak to Mesut or Per about the team, about the club, and they always have good words.”
The influence from some of his German national teammates could well tempt Draxler in declining offers from other top clubs, to join the Gunners during the New Year.
