Chelsea to offer Ashley Cole new contract

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has confirmed that the Blues will offer left back Ashley Cole a new contract at Stamford Bridge. There had been some suggestion that the England international would quit for pastures new having slipped out of the first team reckoning.

The defender has reportedly told his aides that he will consider a move abroad at the end of the season, but there is still a possibility that his club will give him a brand new deal.<br />

Jose Mourinho told reporters: "Naturally he will get his contract because he&rsquo;s a valuable player for us.&nbsp;Even if you are not playing every game and you are not a first-choice player, like he was always, I don&rsquo;t think sometimes it means that you are not well, you are not in well conditions, you are not deserving a new contract."
