Newcastle United target Bafetimbi Gomis eyes Lyon exit

26 December 2013 - 23:33

Newcastle United target Bafetimbi Gomis has admitted that he is likely to leave Lyon in the summer, with a host of top European clubs interested in his services.

  • Chelsea expected to sell striker after loan deal
  • Arsenal defender misses training ahead of Man Utd game

  • The Magpies manager Alan Pardew failed to secure the services of Gomis during the summer, as the striker was not happy with the wage structure provided by the Tyneside outfit.

With the likes of Swansea City and Cardiff City also monitoring the player, Lyon are keen on offloading Gomis sooner rather than later, as he is set to enter into the final six months of his contract with the former Ligue 1 champions.

The talented French international insisted that he would favour a move to French league rivals Marseille, should an offer come by.

“I am in my fifth year with this team, at the end of the season I’ll certainly move on. The club that has most caught my attention is Marseille, but my future is in God’s hands.” He said.
