Chelsea deny reports of offers made for Juan Mata

05 January 2014 - 21:04

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has denied reports of a flurry of transfer bids having been made for Spain international attacking midfielder Juan Mata. The player is disillusioned with life at Stamford Bridge and is contemplating a January transfer move away from the Blues.

  • Chelsea set to sign Crystal Palace star for £47m
  • Man Utd aiming to beat Liverpool to 25yo midfielder
  • With Manchester United and Inter Milan both amongst the many clubs holding a long term interest in the player, Mata is sure to have no shortage of options should Chelsea decide to sell him.

However, incredibly Chelsea manager Mourinho has now informed the press that no bids have been tabled for the player: "I keep saying that I want him to stay.

"There isn't offers. We have no offers. When I said 'I don't want him to leave', he was focused on that and not focused on when I said 'the door is always open'."
