Arsenal weighing up move for Jamaal Lascelles

13 January 2014 - 05:30

Nottingham Forest centre back Jamaal Lascelles has been watched in action by Arsenal's chief scout Steve Rowley. The Gunners are apparently looking to bring in a new centre back and 20-year-old Lascelles could be a replacement for Thomas Vermaelen, who is seemingly heading for a summer exit.

 • Lascelles has recently forced his way into Forest's first team and has impressed with a number of powerful displays at the heart of the club's defensive line. The England under-20 international has long been tracked by Arsenal and the Gunners had a bid rejected for him back in 2011.
With two and a half years left on his current contract, Forest are expecting to redeem at least £10.5 million for the coveted youngster's signature.
Steve Rowley, who watched Lascelles in action last month, has sent a glowing reference back to Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger.
