Chelsea defender Ryan Bertrand joins Aston Villa on loan

Aston Villa have landed the signature of Chelsea full-back Ryan Bertrand on a short-term loan deal until the end of the season.

The Blues manager Jose Mourinho confirmed the news during his press conference earlier today, with Villa also announcing the defender's temporary switch on their official website.<br />

The talented left-back has failed to earn a regular role at the West London outfit, having been pecked down the order by the likes of Cesar Azpilicueta and Ashley Cole this season.<br />

Bertrand revealed his delight at joining the Villans, he said : "It's a fantastic opportunity for me to come here,"<br />

"Aston Villa is a fantastic club with a massive fanbase and a great history. To get this chance to come here and play some games will be a really good step for me."<br />

Bertrand was linked with a move to Liverpool in recent weeks.
