Shinji Kagawa: staying at Old Trafford

Man Utd midfielder Shinji Kagawa staying put

25 January 2014 - 07:44

The expected arrival of Juan Mata from Chelsea does not mean that Japanese international midfielder Shinji Kagawa will be heading for the exit door. Instead, the creative midfielder is expected to play more of a part in David Moyes' side for the coming months.

  • Mauricio Pochettino confirms fresh injury blow for Chelsea star
  • Arsenal want to make four marquee signings this summer

  • Having enjoyed a relatively successful first season in England, Kagawa has not enjoyed the best of times in his secondary year in England; most notably the player has yet to have scored a goal despite scoring six in his maiden season. Kagawa has been linked with a return to Germany, where the player is still very highly thought of by his former club Borussia Dortmund and former coach Jurgen Klopp.

Kagawa has now been told that he will not be allowed to leave the club and has been told that he must take further English classes in his pursuit of adjusting the lifestyle in Manchester.

The Japanese midfielder still has a further 30 months left on his current deal at Old Trafford.
