Distin signs extension at Everton

Sylvain Distin has signed a contract extension with Premier League club Everton. The 36 year old has been one of the stars for the toffees side that are right in the midst of a fight for a UEFA Champions League.

  • The former Portsmouth player has formed a real formidable partnership with England international and club captain Phil Jagielka.



    This is what the official club statement read,



    "Sylvain Distin has signed a one-year contract extension to keep him at Everton Football Club until the summer of 2015."



    The new deal will keep the Frenchmen at Goodison Park till the end of 2014-15 season. Distin joined Everton in 2009 and has since gone on to make 148 league appearances for the club.



    Distin who is the first foreign outfield player to make over 400 appearances in Premier League becomes the second Everton player to renew his contract after fellow defender Leighton Baines agreed a new four year deal.
