Feyenoord punish Pelle

03 March 2014 - 16:34

Feyenoord have suspended Graziano Pelle for two games and stripped the Italian of his captaincy of the club.

  • Barcelona have genuine interest in Chelsea forward
  • Man Utd handed boost in signing West Ham star?

  • The punishment comes in the wake of the 28 year old misbehaving in last night’s defeat to Ajax and last week’s draw at Twente. Last week the striker took out his frustrations on De Grolsch Veste stadium's property kicking out at the dugout, then the door before kicking a camera. This was after his side had conceded a 95th minute equalizer.

Yesterday the former Parma man brought more negative publicity for the club after elbowing Joel Veltman whilst he was being interviewed by Fox Sports after the game.

This is what Technical director Martin van Geel said on the club’s official website,

"Pelle is a great footballer, but this behavior does not fit."

The suspension imposed means that Pellè miss the matches against FC Groningen and Heracles Almelo.

It is likely that Stefan de Vrij will captain the side after having done so earlier in the season.
