Manchester City are lining up a summer move for former Everton reject Shkodran Mustafi, according to a report.
Goal.com claims that City boss wants to sign up the talented Sampdoria defender in the summer, following his impressive show for the Serie A outfit this season.
Mustafi, formerly rejected by manager David Moyes when he was at Everton, has been in top form since moving to Italy, and the central defender also won a call-up to the German national side ahead of the World Cup finals in Brazil this summer.
It is understood that Pellegrini is concerned by the club's defensive setup and wants a suitable option to replace outbound Joleon Lescott and sometimes ineffective Martin Demichelis for the central defensive role alongside club captain Vincent Kompany.
