Sunderland, who are short of a striker for next season's campaign, are ready to make a bid for Chelsea and Senegal international striker Demba Ba in the coming months.

Demba Ba has struggled to force his way into Chelsea's first team, with the Blues preferring to play Fernando Torres or Samuel Etoo in recent months.

Ba has now indicated he would like to leave Stamford Bridge in favour of regular first team football.

Sunderland are set to lose Fabio Borini, who will return to Liverpool after his loan spell has finished.
