Diego Costa has moved a step closer to completing a move from Atletico Madrid to Chelsea. The Blues have agreed a 32 million pounds fee with Atletico having reached the player's minimum buyout release fee.

  • The 40 million EUR offer Chelsea made a week ago gave them permission to speak to Diego Costa, who is currently on international duty with Spain at the World Cup.

Diego Costa has undergone a medical and will wrap up a deal to join Chelsea prior to the World Cup.

The Blues were looking to sign a new striker as soon as possible and agreed a deal for Diego Costa after the release of Samuel Eto'o and question marks over the long term future of Fernando Torres, who could ironically return to his former club Atletico Madrid this summer as well.
