Rio Ferdinand has reportedly rebuffed a chance to join Aston Villa this summer, according to Sky Sports.

  • Chelsea ready new contract for star midfielder
  • Chelsea make first move to sign Xabi Alonso
  • The veteran defender is currently a free-agent following Manchester United's unwillingness to offer him a new contract.

Widespread reports have suggested that the 35-year-old is keen to continue his playing career, with a switch to the MLS a likely option.

Sky Sports claims that the former England international has turned down an offer from the Villans.

Tottenham Hotspur, who are currently managed by Mauricio Pochettino, have also shown interest in the player's services.
