Dutch defender pursued by North London rivals

05 July 2014 - 14:34

North London clubs Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal are reportedly looking to sign Dutch defender Joel Veltman.

  • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
  • Arsenal suffer big injury blow ahead of Fulham game
  • Veltman who is with the Netherlands' squad for the World Cup, is highly regarded as a young talent in Netherlands but has made only one substitute appearance for the Dutch national side in the World Cup.

The centre-back currently plays in the Dutch league with Ajax and is also a target for Manchester City, Manchester United, and Chelsea.

But it seems like a two-horse race with Tottenham and Arsenal taking the lead for his signing.

Arsene Wenger is also looking to search for a replacement for German Thomas Vermaelen who is reportedly planning to leave Arsenal for Manchester United and

Tottenham could lose Michael Dawson and Younes Kaboul this summer.
