  • Andy Carroll has struggled with injuries throughout his entire footballing career and his time at West Ham has been severely blighted through time on the sidelines. The England international is now to spend time recuperating after injuring his ankle on a pre-season tour of Australia.

The Hammers have already signed Enner Valencia as well as Mauro Zarate this summer, but are now looking to add another forward to their ranks to take the place of the injured Carroll.

Lacine Traore had a loan spell at Everton last season and the Toffees are rumoured to have made yet another bid for his services, but now West Ham are believed to be sitting in pole position in the race for the 6 foot 8 striker's signature.

Monaco are having a wholesale clear out of their squad ahead of the new season and have already parted company with James Rodriguez, who joined Real Madrid yesterday.
