Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin will remain at St Mary's, according to chairman Ralph Krueger, despite reports he was headed for Tottenham or Arsenal.

  • Chelsea ready new contract for star midfielder
  • Chelsea make first move to sign Xabi Alonso

  • Arsenal were reportedly interested in the £27 million-valued player and were ready to bid for him were despite his hefty price tag.

Also, Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino wanted to bring midfielder Schneiderlin and striker Jay Rodriguez with him to Spurs.

But all the advances have been quashed with the Chairman's statement.

Krueger told Sky Sports News: “They are part of the core that we have decided to keep at Southampton.

He added: “Jay Rodriguez and Morgan Schneiderlin are not for sale and they will be a part of our club as we enter the new season.”
