Barcelona midfielder Javier Mascherano has agreed a fresh deal with the Catalan club until 2018. The Argentine international is an important part of new coach Luis Enrique's plans.

"FC Barcelona have announced that Javier Mascherano will sign an improved and extended contract on Tuesday August 26 that will see him stay at the club until June 30, 2018," read a statement on the club's website.
