Costa Rica international striker Joel Campbell will stay at Arsenal, despite Arsene Wenger confirming that several teams have contacted him regarding a loan move for the talented youngster.

  • Campbell, who spent last season on loan at Olympiacos, had been a target for AC Milan and Benfica in the transfer window.

However, with an injury to Olivier Giroud seriously hurting Arsenal's plans for the season, Arsene Wenger wants to keep Campbell.

Wenger said of the striker: We’ve had lots of enquiries and turned them down. There have been plenty of clubs interested, but I don’t know how many.

"Once I say to my assistant he won’t go out on loan, even if people ask about him, my assistant doesn’t even tell me. When I say no it’s no.

"He’s definitely a target and a player who is wanted by many clubs."
