Raheem Sterling to sign new Liverpool deal

Liverpool begin Raheem Sterling contract talks

06 October 2014 - 04:10

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that talks have begun with England international forward Raheem Sterling regarding a new contract at Anfield.

  • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
  • Arsenal suffer big injury blow ahead of Fulham game
  • Real Madrid have reportedly been weighing up a move for Sterling in recent weeks and Liverpool have denied that an enquiry has been received for their star youngster.

Instead, Rodgers thinks Sterling is ready to commit to the club and stay for the foreseeable future.

The Liverpool coach said: "Ian Ayre has spoken to his representatives and is quite relaxed.

"The club is dealing with the agent, so everything is calm. The boy is remarkably happy here and there are no secondary thoughts about anything else other than continuing to play for Liverpool and he still has a lot of growth and for that the best place for him to be is here."
