Manchester United are to confirm a move for Aston Villa defender Ron Vlaar once the transfer window reopens. The Dutch defender is top of Louis van Gaal's transfer shortlist.
An impressive World Cup for the Netherlands - where he was coached by the current United boss Van Gaal - saw the interest in defender Vlaar sky rocket over the summer, but the centre back remained loyal to the Villans.
However, as apparently the player has no intentions of signing a brand new contract at Paul Lambert's side and his current deal expires next summer, the club are ready to let him leave now as opposed to on a free transfer.
United are readying a bid and are confident a deal will be wrapped up in the January transfer window.
