Scotland international Darren Fletcher is closing in on an exit from Manchester United, according to The Mail.

The talented midfielder has failed to cement his place in the first-team this season, with manager Louis van Gaal favouring the likes of Michael Carrick, Wayne Rooney, Daley Blind and Marouane Fellaini in the pecking order.

The Mail reports that United are ready to let go of the midfielder for free as well as pay a contribution of his new wages.

West Ham United are considered favourites to sign up the 32-year-old this month.
