Lehmann: I'm still angry

20 December 2007 - 16:10

Jens Lehmann has admitted that he is still angry at the fact Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger prefers Manuel Almunia ahead of him and believes Wenger is not properly choosing his first choice keeper.

  • Enzo Fernandez wants to leave Chelsea
  • Man Utd set to hold contract talks with experienced star
  • "My coach confirmed my impression that he uses a different measuring stick to evaluate Almunia," Lehmann told Kicker magazine.

"For me this was a disappointment.

"It's very frustrating. When I see the performances on the field, I get angry and I have to clench my fist in my pocket."

Germany's goalkeeping coach Andreas Kopke has admitted Lehmann is not the number one choice: "It is too premature to say in December who will be the goalkeeper for the tournament.

"We want to continue to monitor the situation in terms of injuries and level of performance.

"All that Joachim Low said is if the European Championships started this weekend the three goalkeepers he would pick would be Lehmann, (Timo) Hildebrand and (Robert) Enke."
