The 24-year-old has been in top form for the Yellow submarine this season, and his performances have attracted interest from the likes of Barcelona and Atletico Madrid in recent weeks.

According to Inside Spanish Football, the Reds are confident that a fee of around £7m could be enough to persuade the La Liga outfit into selling off their star defender in the summer.

Mario's current deal at Villareal expires in the summer of 2019.
