Manchester United are deemed to have ahead of Liverpool in the race to sign PSV Eindhoven star Memphis Depay this summer.
The Netherlands international has signalled his intentions to leave the Eredivisie outfit at the end of the season, as he seeks a bigger challenge.
According to The Mirror, Depay, who has previously attracted interest from Tottenham Hotspur, is regarded as one of United's top transfer targets for the summer.
The report adds that United are confident of inking a deal ahead of the Reds, with the prospect of playing Champions League football up for the cards.
Depay played under Louis van Gaal during the World Cup finals in Brazil last year.
