Chelsea are reportedly to trigger the release clause of Atletico Madrid defender Diego Godin, according to The Mirror.
The Blues boss Jose Mourinho is understood to be keen on signing a new central defender, with skipper John Terry approaching the end of his playing career.
The Mirror reports that Real Madrid's Raphael Varane remains Mourinho's top transfer target, but the Blues are drawing up a list of alternatives that includes Atleti star Godin.
Godin's current deal has a release clause of £29.5m.
