The Belgian international spent last season on loan at the Saints, and earned plaudits for his performances throughout the campaign.
According to The Mirror, the Saints are ready to smash their transfer record with an £18m bid to land the 26-year-old\'s signature this summer.
Alderweireld made 26 league appearances for the South Coast outfit last season.
