The Red Devils were strongly associated with a move for Valencia's Nicolas Otamendi in recent weeks, but the interest on the Argentine cooled down following reports that Real Madrid star Sergio Ramos was eager to make a switch to Old Trafford.

However, AS claims that Van Gaal has instructed Ed Woodward to look at the possibility of signing up both players this summer.
