Liverpool have decided to meet the release clause of Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke, according to reports.
The Belgian international has been linked with a move to Anfield since May, but the Reds have yet to make a move for the player.
Widespread reports now cite that the Reds are ready to trigger the £32m buy-out clause in Benteke's contract in the next 24 hours.
However, they are likely to face competition from league rivals Manchester United, whose manager Louis van Gaal is confident of landing the talented marksman.
