Manchester United are front-runners in the race to sign Argentine goalkeeper Sergio Romero this summer.
The 28-year-old is a free-agent following his release from Sampdoria earlier this summer.
However, it is understood that Romero opted against a new deal at the Serie A outfit, in order to pursue his career at a top European club.
According to Sky Sport Italia, United lead the chase to sign the talented shot-stopper as they seek a suitable back-up to David de Gea, with Victor Valdes likely to make way in the transfer window.
